Lesson Plan: Letter h

Though the main topic for this week is on Letter h, I inserted other interesting topics like numbers and colors. Last week, we learned about lette

r f

and the colors red, blue, yellow, green.

Greetings:

Teacher: Hi. Hello. Good morning/afternoon. How are you today?

Students: (prompted by teacher to respond) Hi. Hello. Good morning/afternoon. I’m Ok (I’m happy or I’m good)

TPR Warm-Up:

1. 1,2, Touch my shoe…9,10 a big fat hen

Sing: This is Me (a sort of introduction about Body Parts which will be tacked in the future) :

Recite the following first incorporated with action before singing:

This is my hand, this is my hand. These are my hands.

This is my foot, this is my foot. These are my feet.

Clap, clap. Stomp, stomp.

This is my eye. This is my eye. These are my eyes.

This is my ear. This is my ear. These are my ears.

Look, look. Listen, listen.

Then sing “This Is Me”. It’s available on Everybody Up 1 , Track # 40.

Review: Letter f

Brief introduction of letter g:

1. Introduce g to each student. Let them identify the letter you’re holding.

2. Introduce g vocabulary: girl, green, goat

Introduction of New Lesson:

Colors:

  • Introduce another batch of colors: Orange, Pink, Purple, Brown. Let each students repeat after the T.
  • Sing along: Orange, Pink, Purple, Brown. It’s available on Everybody Up 1 , Track # 21.Learning COLORS is much fun and easier using the two songs. K-1 students love to sing the COLOR songs and I tell you they memorize the song as well as identifying colors:)
  • Ask the group “What color is it?” while pointing a color. Prompt them to answer.

Number 3

  • As k students to identify the number. Be sure that they pronounce it correctly.

Letter h

1. Introduce h to each student. Let them identify the letter you’re holding.

2. Introduce h vocabulary: hen, horse, hat, helicopter

Board Work:

  • Match the colors:
  • Trace the letter h:
  • Circle the group with 3 items

Worksheet time:Ask the Thai teacher to explain in Thai what you are talking about and what you need the kids to accomplish.
